Outreach

Bereavement Committee

These caring parish members provide ongoing support for their fellow parish members who have lost a loved one either through follow-up calls, notes, or through our Grief Support Group sessions.
Time Commitment: 2 hours a week for a 6-7 week session.

Childcare

This ministry provides quality childcare for parents while they attend parish activities that would not be age-appropriate for small children.  We enlist help from teenagers in the Youth Group as volunteers as well as mature adults.

 Giving Trees Committee

Members help to organize Christmas gift selections, create the giving tags, decorate the trees, sort and distribute the gifts after collection for distribution .
Time Commitment: Hours may vary during Advent.

Greeting Card Ministry

The volunteers within this ministry send out birthday and sympathy cards to our parishioners.
Time Commitment: 1 hour, once a year.

Communion to Homebound

This is a ministry that allows our parishioners to share their love for the Eucharist and their compassion for our homebound by taking Communion to those of us who are limited by age, disability, or illness.  They not only bring Communion, but also bring their warm smiles and kind hearts.
Time Commitment: Once a week on whatever day you are available.

Helping Hands

This ministry is filled with many gifted people who we can call on when a project arises out of the blue and we need help.  They have many gifts that they contribute at a moment’s notice.  Also, if you have a gift that is not listed here, please let us know and we will find a way for you to share it with us.
Time Commitment: Varies according to your wishes.

Hospital Ministry

We visit the sick at Mclaren Macomb and Henry Ford Hospitals and share of ourselves with  prayer, company, comfort and the healing power of the Body of Christ.
Time Commitment: Varies according to your availability.

Interfaith Caregiver

Provide assistance to our older and disabled neighbors who need a little extra help. Many frail and physically challenged adults in our community struggle daily to maintain their independence – our helping hands often make it possible for them to remain in their own homes.

Mercy in Action Day

Mercy shared enriches our walk with God and our relaIonships with everyone we encounter. Mercy-in-Action Day happens usually in the fall. As soon as we have the scheduled date, we will let you know. The day begins with prayer and breakfast at 8:00 am in the Parish Hall.
There will be a multitude of local service projects available. Our focus last year was to restock  the St. Vincent de Paul’s pantry. Again, everyone is welcome to help. We have something for every age group to do. This is a family affair. All are welcome. We are the hands, feet, and heart needed to lift burdens from another.

Soup Kitchen

We need a leader or event planner for this opportunity; along with several people to help the leader. Once a year we help at St. Christine Soup Kitchen in Detroit to serve a hot and healthy meal on a Tuesday or Saturday. We serve 450 people. We are also open to serving at other soup kitchens in the area. Please call or email if you are interested in being a part of this initiative.

Knights of Columbus

This outreach ministry consists of a very active group of Catholic gentlemen who work tirelessly in the community.  This is a great way to make a personal contribution to the Church and community through charity and fraternity.
Time Commitment: 2 hours every 3rd Wednesday of the month

Ladies Craft Ministry

If you can knit, crochet, sew, quilt, make rosaries, etc., this is the ministry for you.  Our crafty ladies make rosaries for missions, baby items for Turning Point, Abigayle Ministries, Compassion Pregnancy Center, and Christmas gifts for our homebound (from St. Peter Church) that consist of quilts, blankets, lap throws, scarves, hats, etc. If you have a special craft to share just let us know!
Time Commitment: At home, when the Spirit moves you, or every second Saturday of the month in the Fr. Welch Hall.

A Life to Love

God is Love.  He created every life for love.  We seek to show His compassion and be His hands in our community through prayer, education, and outreach.  Our  group will organize activities such as the Mother's Day Right to Life Flower Sale, Fall Mum Sale for Special Dreams Farm and Parish Baby Shower, but we are looking for your fresh ideas to expand our mission!  Come be part of a growing movement that is increasingly winning hearts and changing lives.
Time Commitment: Varies based on your interests.

MCREST Team Member

The group consists of people who are interested in planning a mission to house the homeless at St. Peter Church one week in July each year.  Many hands make for light work during this exciting and rewarding week.  There are many tasks needed to accomplish their mission, from transportation, shopping, cooking, cleaning, washing, entertainment, set up, break down, etc.
Time Commitment: From 1-30 hours scattered over 10 days (planning in May & June, MCREST week in July)

Parish Community Garden

Our parish members, with or without green thumbs, work offsite together to grow vegetables and fruit on a 4-½ acre piece of land, for our families who are in need.  Their work consists of planning, plowing, fertilizing, planting, weeding, harvesting, and distributing the fruit of their labor.  We have fun and invite EVERYONE out to have fun with us.
Time Commitment: 1 hour a week or 1 hour a month; any time commitment will be greatly appreciated

Parish Flower Angels

These angels who love to play in the dirt transform our church, school, rectory, and administration building grounds into the most beautiful and tranquil gardens.
