Children

Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me..."

Matthew 19:14

Welcome to the St. Peter Religious Education Program! We strive to provide a curriculum strong in the Roman Catholic faith, beliefs, and principles. Our goal is to nurture the growth in faith life of each child.
In addition to the classwork our teachers provide, reinforcement and support from the home are necessary components of our program!
2020-21 Religious Education Year Update
After a meeting with Fr. Mike and the Parish Administration, the Religious Education of our children for the 2020-2021 school year will be taught at home by the parents.  The health and safety of our children, families and staff were the primary factors in our decision.  In Phase Four Guidelines from the State of Michigan and the Archdiocese of Detroit, it is mandated that cohorts should not mix.  (A cohort is a mass of students who are grouped together and do not mix with other groups of students).  When we come together for classes, children are mixing together with other children from 4-6 different schools in the St. Mary School building that has had another cohort during the day.  Masks, hand sanitizing, social distancing and sanitizing the school wouldn’t
negate the coming together of so many children for one hour and fifteen minutes each week.
For weekly lessons, we will provide you with:
† Sadlier Series Grade Level Textbooks (for students).
For accountability purposes, the book will need to be turned into our office in May, 2021.
† Sadlier Series Grade Level Guides (for parents to help with planning lessons).
† Lesson Plans
† Our Prayer Program Guide
† Circle of Grace (stranger awareness) Program to share with your children.
† Catholic Brain, an online supplemental program.
† Sacramental Prep Books for First Communion, First Reconciliation and Confirmation
† “Blessed” Online videos for First Communion and First Reconciliation preparation
† Calendar with tentative dates for events and Sacraments.
Sacraments will be scheduled following all safety guidelines in place at the time.

Things to Know:

Registration:

Please register early so that your child can attend classes on the day you select. Waiting until the Summer or Fall may mean the class on your day of choice is already closed.

"Remind" App:

Please sign up for the "Remind" App so we can keep you up to date on all relevant information. Text @stpeterre to 81010 to sign up!

Parental Faith Commitment:

We ask that you take the Parental Faith Commitment very seriously. Dismissal from the Program may result if there is negligence on the part of the parent.

Home Study:

A Home Study Program is available to our St. Peter Parish families. The parent who will attend the check-up meetings with the students is required to take the “Protecting God’s Children” workshop and have a Background Check. The workshop is offered at various parishes in the Archdiocese of Detroit. You must register on-line at the website: virtusonline.org. Please bring a copy of the certificate you receive with you when you turn in the Registration Form. We can provide you with the Background Check Form. These two requirements are necessary as you will be interacting with other children on parish grounds.

We'd love to hear from you!

Let us know if you have any concerns or questions!
